 For the first time in the history of the WSF, librarians will make their presence as well as their true professionalism felt as they take their rightful position to harness a variety of information that will be generated by various groups, movements and civil society organizations assembled in Nairobi, Kenya from 20th to 25th January, 2007.
-The initiative to document the WSF is spearheaded by the Kenya Library Association (KLA), and will be done as a collaborative effort by the librarians from the East African region, namely, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. KLA has been at the forefront in creating the awareness about the WSF to library and information professionals in the EA region, and has held a series of workshops in the region to prepare the librarians to document the WSF. The librarians are well refreshed now in terms of enhanced and innovative skills to document a variety of information at the WSF in both print and print and electronic formats. Information gathered at the WSF will be posted daily at a website to be created shortly and hosted by the KLA. What shall we document? Participants from the three East African countries agreed that the documentation process will ensure value, quality, and relevance of documented information. We shall also observe our professional ethics in the conduct of the documentation process.
