Software and hardware tools and best practice stories relating to PC management.
The MaintainIT Project is collecting success stories from public libraries and other settings with public access computers. The project will distill best practices of technical support into a series of guides customized for different kinds of public libraries (e.g. rural, small, large urban) designed to help librarians keep computers available to the public. The guides will be distributed free, and widely through a variety of sources, including this site, WebJunctionand InfoPeople
Stories are welcome on any aspect of managing public access computers, including:
- Technology planning
- Budgeting for tech support
- Using volunteers for tech support
- Securing public access computers
- Preventative maintenance
Share your best practices, so others can learn from them!!
